The world is full-
Of things, things, things!
But what true joy
Do those things bring?
Simple-
Is the way gone by!
Now, so much-
And pile it high!
It isn't joy that these things bring-
For tend to me-
Is all they sing!
Clean about!
Stuff here, shove there!
A life of constant-
Ever care!
Oh, the Kingdom Life I've found!
Among the gatherings around!
There's a place I long to go-
Where there is not a thing to see-
But only Love
And Victory!
In my heart I walk and talk-
With my Father!
He's my friend!
There I rest in Grace Divine!
There where things-
Aren't on my mind!
Later, when I must move on
And all these things-
To think upon-
I draw from Wisdom!
Where I've been!
I know for sure-
God is my friend!
Now, thankfulness-
My heart, it sings!
God blesses me-
With all good things!!!

Wow! I feel better! I must confess that every year I get a little anxious about a big tree, decorations, gifts and more food! I enjoy Christmas very much but I struggle at first with things! So many things! I had a talk with Father today about it all and the poem above is how He comforted me!
ReplyDeleteWe can have things as long as they don't have us! I know they don't have me! Being alone with Father, and loving others is a greater joy than things! But I am thankful for things too because I am still on earth!
I wasn't always like I am now- I used to love things! As I pull things out each year I realize the things I once treasured so very much are only things!
Some of you I don't even know and may never meet here but you are a treasure to me! I know you are out there and you are my brothers and sisters in Christ and I love you!
I am so thankful that we enjoy Father together sometimes!!!
Love you 4ever xo
Oh, the picture reminds me of the old Alabama song about a simple candle in the window and Christmas in our heart! I sing that every year! Christmas is indeed in our hearts!!! xo
ReplyDeleteI love this poem! It sure does put life (especially this time of year) into perspective. I know what you mean & I totally agree with you. I wish I could be there with you for Christmas:( But at least Dave is going to be here for sure! I love you
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet and encouraging! I love you so very much! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Love 4ever, mommy! :)
Great way to word that! We did our thing this weekend too and it can become ugly instead of beautiful without perspective! I love the simple beauty of Christmas/Advent...if you let it be simple!
ReplyDeleteAmen! Love you! xo
